The future of touch technology

最近在 CNN 看到一篇報導關於 future of touch，自家也是在做這領域的，看它介紹幾了不錯的應用，在這記錄一下。

現在的智慧型手機都是 touchscreen, 但是有個缺憾是沒有 tactile feedback：就是不像打鍵盤或撥傳統電話一般有觸感；你無法感受到 icon 的存在，也不能知道 photo 的輪廓。所以下一代最紅的話題則是能賦予 haptic feedback 的裝置。很多公司都是在 touchscreen 的材質上著手，不過這也不是我能觸及的範疇...(茶

1. Airreal, Disney's Interaction Group: paper PDF 官網
第一個是 Disney's Interaction Group 發表的 Aireal: "interactive tactile experiences in free air." The Aireal works by blowing small rings of air at a user to simulate touch, movement or collisions with objects.


心得：所以似乎是去追蹤手掌然後透過光射到手上產生互動影像及模擬觸覺的行為。印象最深刻的是影片中光線產生的蝴蝶再拍動翅膀時，可以跟實際的影片上的葉子擺動同步，相當有趣。

2.  Woojer  官網
再 kickstarter 上有在募款, 稱做是 feel the sound。主要是透過他們的震動裝置感受低頻的 bass聲音。


3. Tacit  官網
透過一個可穿帶的感測距離裝置幫助視貧的人。主要特點是 "feel the objects around them"，使用 ultrasound 去 scan 前方的區域, 然後當user 接近某物時可以感受到輕微的壓力。

一樣是 Disney research 但這東西太酷了，完全符合我心中理想的 haptic device with machine learning 的玩意!

openwrt feed的使用

最近又回去看Openwrt發現feed, 來記錄一下. feed 是一個挺有趣的東西, 在Openwrt 理面它是一堆 packages 的集合,  我想應該是因為不同的 packages 可能來自不同的地方, 透過 feed 提供介面管理這些 packages.
